5 great benefits for first home buyers, right now!
1. First Home Buyer Grants. There are payments totalling $14,000, regardless of your income or the value of the first home you’re buying (though there will be a value cap of $750,000 from January 1 2010), and regardless of whether you’re buying a house or apartment . And if you’re buying a brand new home, the grants are even higher - $24,000. The grants will be reduced after September 30 and December 31. 2. First Home Buyer Plus. This is the benefit that gives first home buyers an exemption or concession on transfer (“stamp duty”). You’ll pay no stamp duty on first home purchases up to $500,000. And get a discount on the usual duty for first home purchases between $500,000 and $600,000. This benefit could mean a saving of up to $18,000 in the costs of buying your first home. 3. Lower interest rates. Mortgage interest rates have come down considerably over the past several months. That means lower repayments on your first home.
